# Payment types

Payments can be made either automatically or manually.

* [**Automatic Payments**](/platform/settings/payments/setting-up-automatic-payments.md)**:** when this option is enabled in a customer account, Nexudus will try to collect payment automatically for any invoices past their due date.
* [**Manual payments**](/platform/day-to-day/finance/payments/managing-payments.md)**:** you can use the customer's default credit card payment details or you can use any available credit to pay an invoice.

### Recurring payments

There are three types of recurring payments:

**PayPal recurring payments**: You can request a set amount from the customer's bank at specific intervals (usually when the member's plan is renewed). This type of subscription works for spaces that charge customers a set amount every month.

**GoCardless**: When your customers provide valid payment details, you can ask them to pay the invoices created by your Nexudus Spaces account automatically.

**Store card details**: This option stores the card details provided by your customers on the payment service provider that you've configured. This method enables you to request a set or variable amount from customers every time an invoice is created in the platform.
